March Plasma Systems Receives New Orders for PROVIA™ PCB Plasma Systems
Concord, CA, August 05, 2009 – March Plasma Systems, the global leader in advanced plasma treatment systems, announced today that it has received additional orders for its PROVIA™ plasma system for printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. These systems will ship to PCB manufacturing customers in both Asia and Europe over the next several months.
The PROVIA™ plasma system is used for primarily for blind via and through-hole desmear and etch-back applications. Desmear and etch-back steps are critical for manufacturing high-quality circuit boards, because without proper desmear and etch-back, the subsequent metal plating steps will not be successful. Poor metal plating leads to poor PCB quality, scrap and re-work costs.
“The PROVIA™ plasma system is recognized as the greenest method to perform PCB desmear and etch-back,” said Peter Bierhuis, President of March Plasma Systems. “By using a gas-based “dry” plasma process, the customer can avoid hazardous wet chemicals and chemical baths, and also the associated toxic chemical disposal that goes along with any wet process. As we strive to minimize our carbon footprint, it is expected someday all PCB desmear and etch-back will be done with dry systems like the advanced PROVIA™ plasma system.”
