March Plasma Systems Builds Upon Industry Leading PCB Plasma Treatment Uniformity

Concord , CA – Responding to growing industry requirements for superior processing uniformity, March Plasma Systems announced today that it has completed its comprehensive evaluation of a new gas distribution and electrical isolation technology. These additions to the industry proven PCB series product dramatically improve the uniformity of plasma treatment in PCB processing applications such as desmear and etchback.

The technology consists of a unique gas baffle that ensures that the process gas is uniformly directed across each panel within an individual processing cell as well as providing excellent distribution from processing cell to processing cell. The uniform gas distribution directly results in more uniform plasma treatment.

An additional feature of the gas baffle system is the ability to electrically isolate the PCB panels from ground. The electrical isolation further enhances the treatment uniformity in the system. "March has always been a technology-driven company and I am pleased with the results from this comprehensive qualification," said James Getty, Director of Applications Engineering at March Plasma Systems.
"Our technology gives us a competitive edge in the marketplace with our advanced plasma processing equipment. We are confident that this new technology will find rapid acceptance with our customers."

The laboratory is equipped with a variety of March plasma processing systems for processing a wide range of advanced PCB, semiconductor, and microelectronic devices. The use of plasma is an efficient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly method of surface activation and cleaning during the microelectronics manufacturing process, improving reliability and increasing yield in both semiconductor and PCB assembly.

March Plasma Systems is the global leader in plasma processing technology for the semiconductor, microelectronics, printed circuit board (PCB), medical devices, and life sciences industries. March has operations and support centers worldwide, including California, Florida, Europe, Singapore, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. With over 20 years of continuous innovation, March designs and manufactures a complete line of award-winning and patented plasma processing systems.
